  • ABSTRAK Characteristic of geometric distortion on satellite imagery can be divided into 2 classes, i.e. systematic and unsystematic distortion. Systematic distortion should be eliminated using mathematical's models, and unsystematic distortion can be eliminated using two dimensional transformation formula's. In mapping terminology, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of Ground Control Points (GCPs) should not be used as accuracy of geometrical correction, but it should be indicated from RMSE of Independent Check Points. This research studies four methods of two-dimensional transformation in order to correct unsystematic geometrical distortion. The result shows that 3and 2nd order polynomial equations give the best accuracy for geometrical correction. In order to enhance accuracy of geometrical correction of SPOT Panchromatic satellite, it is strongly recommended to use a lot of GCPs on satellite imagery and to do transformation on a small area.
