  • An experiment on replacement of fish meal with azolla. meal for feeding common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) was done to study the influence of azolla meal protein in promoting fish growth. A comparison of the feed used in this experiment with ,commercialâ¢ feed (comfeed) was made with carp fingerling raised in 0.60 x 0.60 x 0.60 m3 concreate compartment, receiving continuously-flowing water froin municipal irrigation system. Four treatments consisted of feeding with laboratory feed without azolla (Ti), feeding with feed containing azolla meal' equivalent to 10% fish Meal protein of pellet feed (T2), feeding with feed containing azolla meal equivalent to 20% fish meal protein of pellet feed (T,,) and feeding with commercial feed (comfeed) (T4). â¢ After 70 days of feeding, the growth of fish in treatment T was not significantly different (P 0.05) with that of fish at treatment T4. The growth of fish at treatment T, was not significantly different with that of fish at treatment T, both were lower and significantly different (P< 0.05) with those at treatment Ti and T4. Average survival rate of fish at treatment T1 was the highest, followed by treatment T4, and treatment 13 was the lowest. Result from the study indicated that addition of azolla meal equivalent to 10% of fish meal proteion in pellet feed reduced the survival rate as well as the growth of the fish.
