- Solid waste consists of unless organic and inorganic materials must be handled. Its must be handled to avoid deaseases and to keep the city clean. Urban's solid waste is rubbish that are yielded from the town except the harzadous and toxic materials. The management of town's solid waste consists of design, operational and handling that are organized and has technical aspects. The technical aspects include colecting, moving, transporting, treatment and finally exile. The treatment of the solid waste means reducing the volume of the garbages and to change the garbage into useable forms, by incenering, composting, compacting, melting, drying and reusing. TPA Tambakboyo in Sleman receives the solid waste from Sleman city and the surrounding area. At the first TPA Tambakboyo is about 4.5 ha wide, and it should be widened to 2.5 ha in 1996/1997. The operation time of the TPA Tambakboyo is 14 years, but its can be longer by optimalizing the TPA operations, which can be reached by burning the garbage as asphaltic filler, or by reusing the plastic's garbage.
