  • Research on method of mycorrhizae fungi inoculation to speed up the growth of Meranti merah (Shorea leprosula) seedling has been practiced in the PT.Gunung Meranti nursery, province of Central Kalimantan. They used seeds taken from a mother tree. The size of nursery is 2 Ha laid down in the natural forest environment with same living trees of Dipterocarpaceae family between beds the nursery. Treatment I is inoculation of mycorrhizae fungi with topsoil from natural forest floor, treatment II is inoculation of mycorrhizae fungi tablet and treatment III is without inoculation of mycorrhizae fungi. After 10 months in the beds and homogenous treatment, diameter and height of the seedling were measured. Results of average diameter and height of the treatment were: Meranti seedling in treatment I were 0,32 cm and 31,12 cm, in treatment II 0,31 cm and 29,54 cm and in treatment III 0,287 cm and 28,69 cm respectively. Result of the Anova indicated that the three treatments were not really different indicating that treatment 1, II and III were the same. Infact the existence of Dipterocarpaceae seedling including Meranti merah (S.leprosula) in the nursery located in the natural forest develop naturally inoculation of mycorrhizae fungi but the quantity and the species could not be controlled. Scleroderma mycorrhizae fungi usually developed more. The seedling root developed hyfa web in all the three treatments. Nursery to produce ideal Dipterocarpaceae seedling should leave mother trees. By using this method the nursery between living trees is cooler, easier to be practiced and supply of mycorrhizae fungi grew naturally and the work were more efficient. Keywords : mycorrhizae, shorea leprosula, Gn meranti.
