  • ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to study and describe the worker conflict and strike movement Post New Order in Djatiroto sugar plant in Lumajang, East Java. This research tries to analyze three basic problems. First: to analyze the reasons why the workers are on strike. Second, why the worker's strike event occured and the third, analyzing the impact of workers' strike on social enviroment around Djatiroto sugar plant. The-research is done by using qualitative descriptive method. The research finds that the strike movement is driven by internal and external factors. The internal factor is the right conflict and the unequal relationship between workers and the master. This is a basic conflict that always persistent in a sugar plant and resulted from the unequal Pancasila industry relationship. The external factor refers to condition that has relation with government's political economy policy, especially towards the industry and the union. The eleven days of strike movement in Djatiroto sugar plant triggered by PHL (premi hasil lebih) went on peacefully. The conflict settlement through formal line (bipartit, and tripartit negotiation) did not work. On the contray, the political settlement involved Bupati and DPRD (local parliament) in Kabupa ten Lumajang. The strike movement had no a negative effect for the stability on social enviroment around Djatiroto sugar plant. Key word: Worker's strike Post New Order.
