- ABSTRACT It has been conducted a sudy to define the effect of the fresh tea leaves extract (Camellia sinensis) at concentration 2% as mouth-wash solution against dental plaque formation. As control, aquabides and bactidof 2 % were used. Thirty sample (age 12 - 18 years) were divided into three groups. Each of the groups was given two kind of the mouth-wash solution. Group I was given the Bactidol solution and aquabides (treatment I). Group Ii was given the fresh tea leaves extract solution then aquabides (treatment II). Group III wa given aquabides and aquabides (treatment Ill). Five ml each of solutions was mouth washed for 5 second and was repeated three times. All treatments for three days. The measurement of Dental Plaque Index by means of PHP Index (Podshadley and Haley, 1968) at third days after treatment. The result of this research showed that was significant the effect of different mouth-wash against dental plaque formation. The fresh tea leaves extract at concentration 2% was equal to Bactidol 2% to decrease dental plaque formation. Keywords : fresh tea leaves extract, Came/ha sinensis, dental plaque formation.
