- ABSTRAK This study was based on a hypothesized statement that achievement motivation was closely related to self-esteem. Whether a person would have a high degree of achievement motivation was significantly dependent on a high degree of self-esteem he had. . An adaptation of Mehrabian's scale of n-Ach and an adaptation of Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale were administered to 70 university students in Yogyakarta in order to convey data of the two variables. A x2 analysis for 2 x 3 table with a level of confidence of 95% was conducted and the result did not support the hypothesis Keywords: achievement motivation, self-esteem
