- ABSTRACT Natural regeneration at logged over area will grow to a climax forest. The total breast high cross section areas per hectare is used as growth indicator. A research was done.at logged over area of PT Hutu Mulya after 3,6,9,12 and 15 years. Three plots of 100 by 100 m were set ap at each age class. Plot I was located at hard felling area (9-12 trees felled/ha), Plot II was at soft felling (4-8 trees felled/ha) and Plot III was at a forest area without any felling. Data collected were total seedlings, saplings, poles and trees and diameter and height of commercial trees. The result showed that the amount of seedlings and saplings were decreasing with age while the amount of poles was increasing. The crown of dominant tree prevents sun light to reach the forest basement. Location without any felling did not show any significant difference in natural regeneration. Logged over area at 5 year age grow nearly to the climax condition.
