  • ABSTRACT In many cases, field work on soil compaction (static or dynamic) is executed without considering the excess such as the occurence of grain structure modification in soil and also the degree of density that can be achieved. By the support of a serie experimental test in the laboratory such as sieve analysis, Proctor, oedometric, triaxial CU & CD, scanning electron microscopy and injection mercury porosimetry, a study has been performed to obtain correlations between the effect of three different loading types (shock, static and cyclic) to the density variations and the grain structure of soil (e.g. silty sand and kaolinite clay). The results show the existance of direct effect in the form of evolution of coarse aggregate to be uniform and the fracture of those aggregate caused by loading type of shock. Another case is that the magnitude of soil resistancy is influenced by the magnitude of cyclic loading amplitude. With relatively lower amplitude successfully increase the density and the mechanic resistance of soil, and decrease them when the amplitude of cyclic loading is higher. The application of static loading by triaxial classic test give direct influence in penetrating to micro scale organization of clay particles, in the way of deforming the shape, size, density and direction of particles. In harmony to the solid aggregate behavior, the evolution of microvoid in clay particle becomes narrower in balance to the increase of the applied stress.
