  • Most of Indonesia regions are categorized as high seismic risk except Kalimantan. This is proved by recent big earthquakes that hit Aceh, Nabire, Nias, Yogyakarta, and West Java just between 2004 to 2006, which had caused a huge lost of lives and prosperity. Aceh and West Java earthquake were accompanied with tsunami. The requirement to take into account seismic aspect in designing facilities especially vital facilities that are categorized as life line facilitates becomes very important. However, there is hardly any data of ground acceleration is available for developing response spectra or carry out time history analyses. Therefore, it is proposed to use overseas ground accelerations or develop artificial ground acceleration for designing purpose such as for designing electric power facilities in Jaya Pura discussed in this paper. The chosen ground accelerations need to be scaled so that the correlated response spectra are close to the one required by the code.
