  • Flooding is a loss-associated phenomenon that very often occurs in some industrial devices. Generally, some analytical and empirical correlation can not be used directly for predicting flooding. This, therefore, make many of the research so far conducted to become possible solution by its own right. The experimental test section of plexiglas with inside diameter of 24mm and the pipe lengths of 2000 mm, 3000 mm and 3500 mm. In addition, the outlet geometry comprised of sharp, bell-mouth and elbow. Approaching of the real condition in the heat exchanger required flowing down of the liquid by its gravity and flowing upward of gas from the bottom - in opposite direction. If the gas reaches the critical velocity, flooding occurs and usually detected by sharply increases pressure gradient above the liquid inlet. The results of the experiment show that the flooding gas flow rate is lower than in porous wall system. The length effect is not significant. Flooding phenomenon does not always have to start at the bottom or outlet. The results are compared with the previous investigator's results too.
