- The following 594 specimens (289 males, 229 females, 53 nymphs, and 23 larvals) of ticks are found on 38 sambar deers, Cervus unicolor, in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Java, which are consisted of 5 generas (± 18 species) of ticks. Totals with discovery percentage each species of tick on these sambar deers are recorded 45 specimens (16 %) Amblyomma testudinarium, 38 specimens (10,2 %) Boophilus microplus, 2 specimens (1,3 %) Dermacentor atrosignatus, 1 specimens (2,6%) Haemaphysalis borneata, 18 specimens (6,1 %) H. calvus, 195 specimens (19,9%) H. cornigera, 4 specimens (1,2%) H. hirsuta, 15 specimens (2,2%)H. mjoebergii, 2 specimens (1,4%) H. nadchatrami, 34 specimens (8,3%) H. renschi, 13 specimens (5,7%) H. semermis,.53 specimens (8%) H. sumatraensis, I specimens (0,7%) H. traubi, I specimens (0,5 %) H. wellingtoni. 122 specimens (5,9%) Haemaphysalis spp., 2 specimens (0,7%) Rhipicepalus haemaphysaloides, 46 specimens (8,4%) R. pilans, and 2 specimens (0,9%) R. sanguineus.. Adults of ticks and H. cornigera are found much more than other developmental stages or also its species. Its infection show of 1-4 stages or 1-7 species of ticks on each sambar deer. Its hosts, distribution, and roles in ecosystem as parasites and vectors of zoonoses are discused. (Key words: Acarina, lxodidae, Ruminansia, Cervidae.)
