  • ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to study Jacques Lacan's critique of psychoanalysis with social neurocognition approach with brain mapping of electroencephalograpy wave power of self-recognition activity using self-name and self-image. According to Lacan, self-consciousness was developed by unconsciousness process of metaphor and metonymy. Social cognition process of self-recognition was developed by this mechanism and could not be separated from language processes. Hemispheric lateralization and power of electroencephalography wave at cerebral cortex on self-recognition was effected by this mechanism. Auditory stimuli of listening to subject own full name, listening to subject own proper name and visual stimuli of reading subject own full name, reading subject own full name and watching self image are used as variables. Except self-proper name auditory stimuli, domi-â¢ nant decreasing power of electroencephalography wave of all auditory and visual self-stimuli was found with dominant activity on left hemisphere. Dominant decreasing power of electroencephalography wave of familiar and stranger auditory stimuli were found bilateral on both hemisphere with preferentially lateralized to the right hemisphere. Dominant decreasing power of electroencephalography wave of visual familiar and stranger stimuli were found bilateral on both hemisphere. Lower power of electroencepalography wave was found on auditory and visual of self-stimuli than familiar and stranger stimuli. Except alpha wave on reading full name, higher power of electroencepalography wave was found on both auditory and visual familiar stimuli than stranger stimuli. Lacan's critique of psychoanalysis could be used to explain hemispheric lateralization and difference power of electroencephalographv of self and other people recognition activity.
