- Least square method have characteristic very sensitive to gross error. It can make the accuracy of estimation value don't show the true value. To solve this problem, there is Robust method which can detect and delete the gross error automatically in processing data of adjustment computation. To examine Robust method (minimum of sum estimation and modification of bi-square method), research in the estimation of leveling network with elevation difference measurement is done. Analysis is carried out by comparison the ability of gross error detection using least squares and Robust methods. Research yielded that Robust method can detect and located gross error better than least squares.
