- ABSTRACT This laboratory research used some equipment tests : DSC (Defferential Scanning Calorimetiy) made by Mettler, Thermal Conductivity Meter TC-3-1 Model, Picnometer, Hydrometer, and Viscometer. The research was proposed to identifi thermophysic properties of some heat storage materials, which could be found in market (around of Yogyakarta), i.e. paraffin,, fat, mikro (mixture of paraffin, damar, fat , and vaseline), gondorukem, and damar. The result of this identification, was chosen the best of storage energy materials, as a test material on melting process with a constant heat flux of heater surface, on in-line tubes bank of shell and tube type heat exchanger. As the basic of thermophysic properties and material temperature of the test, will be got melting characteristic as heat transfer coefficient for time, modus of dominant heat transfer along melting process, and Nusselt number correlation. A numerical computation was used as a comparative test. The result of the research showed that mikro was the best of among the tested materials, and there was a good agreement between melting lest result and theoretical analysis.
