- ABSTRACT The blocked of river mouth by sand spit is one of the reasons why the annual flood occurs in the low land area at Southern of Central Java. A study based on field observations have been done in order to have a best solution to ease the problem. Based on the analyses of field data can be concluded that the use of double short jetties combined with the dikes could provide a positive result to combat the closing of a river mouth. The participation of farmer society in maintaining of the river mouth could guarantee a sustainable solution of river mouth problems.
