- This research aimes to have a complete description of values, social norms, and customs of a society that influenced the view and role of women for the environmental conservation, especiality concerning household waste management. Pringgodani Gentry was chosen as the site of research, be¬cause the number ofwomen was much more than men. This research applies Bronislaw Malisnowski's theory of functional which explained that individual's actions was limited by the social institu¬tions of each individual, and the relation between the needs of each indi¬vidual and the satisfaction of those needs through cultural value system of the community of Pringgodani Gentry influenced status and role of men and women in various social institution, more specifically in managing house¬hold waste. The data collection methods used in this research were observa¬tion, participant observation, and in-depth interview. The community's conception of environment is proven to be simple
