- In this research, the heat - mass transfer analogy (Chilton � Colburn analogy) was used for estimating the heat transfer coefficient on a cylinder in a spiral flow . Cylinders of naphthalene were placed concentrically inside PVC tubes. Air entered the annulus tangentially at one end and left it from the other end. The Reynolds numbers were varied from 1 x 104 to 1 x 105 . The diameters of the concentric tubes and the lengths of the cylinders were varied such that the dimensionless variables D/d were 1,56
