- The dye for batik composed of organic material that ussualy unstable to high temperature or sunshine. To prevent damage of the day, the drying process of batik should be caried out at low temperature. Research in drying process of textile at low temperature and low humidity had been done on a fixed slice drying system. White cloth were used as a model. In a drying proccess, mass transfer and heat transfer take place simultaneusly, so the mathematical model can be developed based on the mass and heat balances. The model was accomplished numerically. Both the mass transfer coefficient (15) and the effective diffusivity (A) were evaluated using Hooke-Jeeves optimization method. In this research, the drying process of textile was carried out using abox with dimension of 25 cm x 65 cm x 80 cm. The air drying agent was produced by a modified air studied were Reynolds number, ratio of the air temperature to the initial solid temperature ( Tg / Tee ), and the relatif humidity of air drying agent (RH). The result of experiment showed that the relation between Icy or De and the process variables, may be expressed in dimensionless group as below : Sh 0.0471 (Re)03610 (Tg/Tso)°2945 (RH) 41.4499 With an average error of 3,73 % De/ DAB = 1,651'0-5 (Tg / 3.6661 With an average error or 0.60 % The equations were valid for 10,26 Re 5 22,57
