- To develop an intensive shrimp business, it is necessary that larvae be continually available. In order to realize this, female shrimps with mature ova must always be produced, and so, measures must be taken to enhance the ova maturity. One way of achieving this is to make use of the eye-ablation technique. In addition, the effect of vitamin E on shrimp reproduction must also be assessed. In this experiment shrimps, Machrobrachium rosenbergii de Man, were either injected with vitamin E, one of the eyes was destroyed, or received both treatments. The goal was to assess the effect of vitamin E and eye ablation on the maturity of the ova, the fecundity and the hatchability of the ova. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Diponegoro University, Semarang, for about 5 months. Shrimps, 6 month old females and 6 month old males, were obtained from Balai Benih Ikan, Pacangan, Jepara. The experiment was performed in Completely Randomized Design: five dosages of vitamin E (0 mg, 30 mg, 40 mg, 50 mg, and 60 mg) each was given into the individuals of the group and the eye destroyed group
