  • JaFA (Jabatan Fungsional Akademik) information system is a system for providing information for lecturers related to their efforts to achieve a higher degree of rank/class and duty. This system can handle database operations like inputing, updating and deleting data, creating reports in the same format as the one produced by the department of higher education. Beside that, JaFA information system gives some advantages for operator. related to JaFA data management, especially for calculating JaFA credit points. JaFA information system owns two user interface applications, namely windows based JaFA application and web based JaFA application. Pattern of design being used on the JaFA information system is the facade pattern, whereas for application modeling, a multi-tier model that containing five tiers is used. The five tiers are presentation tier, facade business tier, main business tier, data access tier and data service tier. Physically, JaFA information system has been tested on three computers, the first computer acts as the client computer, the second one acts as server-1 that contains business logics, whereas the third one acts as server-2 that represents the database server. Presentation tier is placed on the client computer, main busitier and facade business tier are placed on server-1, whereas the data access tier and data service tier are placed on server-2. The JaFA information system has been tested and the results show that it has capable of showing any information related to advancement in rank/ class and duty that has been fulfilled by lecturers.
