  • ABSTRACT In recent years the application of the geosynthetics in geotechnical engineering is wide spread. If the civil or geotechnical works are on soft soil, they often bring about some problems such as low bearing capacity. The application of geosynthetic material to soil stabilization may be one of the solution. In this soil stabilization research, mixed fibrillated fibers of geosynthetic and silt is used. The mixing material is called soil-fiber. The method of the research is as follows, the fibrillated fibers is added to the silt at 0,1%, 0,2%, 0,3%, and 0,5% of its dry density. This is to know the influence of parameter of soil-fiber i.e shear strength (c), and internal friction angle (go). The tests are compaction by standard Proctor, and triaxial test for the condition of unconsolidated- undrained. The result of this research showed that dry density of the silt was increased by D%-0,3%, the dry density of the soil-fiber increased by 2%-3% with maximum dry density is 15,52 kN/m3. The maximum cohesion of soil-fiber is 62 kN/m2 which has increased by 50%, but the angle of internal friction decreased by 25% to become 15o.
