  • This research aimed is to study the effect of guano organic fertilizer towards the availability of Cd on soil and the degree of plants tissue ability to absorb Cd, also to study its effect on plant's productivity which parameter is tuber's dry weight. In the experiment Onion plant was applied the plant is widely grown and it is commonly using SP36 as fertilizer which is the source of Cd contamination. Factorial completed random design was chosen in this method with 2 factors concerning the kind of fertilizer used, which consists of guano organic fertilizer (P1) and SP36 fertilizer (P2). The second factor is dosage of fertilizer i.e. : 0 kg/ha (Dl), 100 kg/ha (D2), 300 kg/ha (D3) and 700 kg/ha (D4). Soil samples were collected from Srigading village, Sanden, Bantul. The common fertilizer which used in growing onion in Srigading village is SP36 which contains Cd. The result showed that the content of Cd in SP36 is 3,09 ppm and 0,07 ppm in the soil. Soil with Cd between 0 - 1,00 ppm is still categorized as uncontaminated. SP36 act as reducer of soil pH so that it will increasing the availability of Cd in the plant. The treatment of SP36 fertilizer at 700 kg/ha showed that the content of Cd of the root of the leaf and in the tuber is respectively was 2,79 ppm 1,74 ppm and 1,54 ppm, while the content of Cd in control showed in the root, the leaf, and the tuber is respectively 1,53 ppm, 0,55 ppm and 1,11 ppm. The usage of guano organic fertilizer cause increasing the pH and organic compounds of the soil and the tuber's dry weight. The increasing pH and organic compounds of soil happens because guano organic fertilizer treatment caused decrease of Cd content in the soil. The organic compounds also affected the root uptake and chlorophyl synthesis so it will increase the tuber's dry weight. The treatment of guano on 700 kg/ha showed that tuber's dry weight was 5,89 gr/plant, while at the control was 2,73 gr/plant.
