  • Abstrak Hypoglycaemic effect on soybean protein extract and phytic acid diet in diabetic rats had been studied. This research was divided into two steps. The first step was conducted to prepare dry soybean protein extract and the second step was bioassay study to investigate the hypoglycaemic effect of soybean protein extract and phytic acid diet. Thirthy mature male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were used in bioassay study. They were divided into 2 groups of 15 rats. The first group was injected alloxan (80 mg/kg body weight) to induce diabetic and the other group was used as control. Each group were divided into 3 subgroup and were given three different diet, i.e: soybean protein extract, phytic acid and control diet. The AIN1993 formula was used as the basal diet. The blood and urin glucose concentration was determined by Blood Glucose Monitoring System and Uriscan Glucose kit method and were used as the parameter of hypo/hyper glycaemic condition. The result showed that the protein concentration of soybean protein extract and the concentration of phytic acid in soybean protein extract were 57,59% (db) and 2,1% (db) respectively. Bioassay experiment demonstrated that diet on soybean protein extract decreased the level of blood glucose from 327 mg/dl to 50 mg/dl. Phytic acid diet decreased the level blood glucose from 285 mg/dl to 64,5 mg/dl. Keywords: hypoglycaemic -soybean protein - phytyc acid
