- This experiment was aimed to evaluate in-vivo the antioxidative and hipocholesterolemic activity of green tea and jasmine green tea extracts in male Sprague Dawley rats given high PUFA diet. Forty male 3.5 month-old Sprague Dawley rats used an bioassay study. They were divided into 5 groups of 8 rats which were rats feed "no wheat flour, no supplemented tea extract " (NTNT), " with wheat flour, no supplemented tea extract" (TNT), "with wheat flour, supplemented green tea extract 1 %" (TTHR), "with wheat flour, force feeding with green tea extract 100 mg/day" (TTHF), and "with wheat flour, supplemented jasmine green tea extract 1 %" (TTWR) diet. Feed was given ad libitum for 28 days. In the end of the experiment, the serum and liver were taken out for TBARS and cholesterol analysis. In rats feed the high PUFA diet supplemented (TTHR) or force feeding (UHF) with green tea extract, serum and liver homogenate malondialdehyde level and the liver homogenate cholesterol level were lower than rats feed the high PUFA diet supplemented with jasmine green tea extract (TTWR) and not supplemented (NTNT and TNT). In contrast, no significantly different was observed in serum cholesterol level in rats fed the high PUFA diet containing green tea (TTHR) or jasmine green tea extract (TTWR) as compared with the high PUFA diet (NTNT and TNT). Keywords: green tea extract jasmine green tea extract antioxidative hipo-cholesterolemic high PUFA diet
