  • Abstrak The effectiveness of recurrent selection depends on the selection method used. As a result of empirical and computer simulation, a number author had advocated SI family selection in preference to other forms of family selection. Expected response of selection was first concern of plant breeder. Formerly, the expected SI selection response was estimable with assumption d = 0 or p = q = 0,5 and in recently the prediction of SI selection response might use covariance (HS,S1) without assumption. Bisma variety of maize was used as based population. The randomly chosen of 81 plant used to fertilize four of different females and selfed. All of the families evaluated in Randomized Complete Block Design with three blocks. The data subjected to analysis of variance. The variance analysis of the data was used to estimate the genetic variance and covariance of half-sib and SI family mean was used to prediction of the expected responses of SI selection. The result showed that the additive genetic variance of ear diameter, ear length, plant height, ear height, and dry weight of grain per ear were 0,035
