  • Background : Rhinosinusitis is defined as disorders due to inflammation of the mucosa of the nose and paranasal sinuses. Pathophysiology of the disease of the sinuses is associated to 3 factors, namely the patency of the ostia, the function of the cilia and quality of secretions. Anatomical variations, such as Haller cell , deviation of the nasal septum, and concha bullousa, is thought to be predisposing factor for occurrence of chronic maxillary rhinosinusitis. Haller cell is extramural pneumatization of the ethmoid cell bellow the orbital base (in superomedial aspect of the maxillary sinuses). Computed tomography scan is able to visualize the anatomy of the paranasal sinuses and has high accuracy in evaluating abnormalities of the paranasal sinuses. Aim : This study aimed to determine the correlation between the findings of the Haller cell and maxillary rhinosinusitis in head MSCT. Subject and Method : This was an analytical correlative study with cross sectional design. Data gathered retrospectively from head MSCT scan data in Dr. Sardjito Central General Hospital Yogyakarta in period January 2014 to June 2014. The variables were categoricalized and would be analized by using contingency coefficient test. Result: Our subject consisted of 95 patients with Haller cell both side or one side
