- This study aims to know how far supporting the development of the tourism industry in the Mentawai Islands Regency. Determine the extent of government's role in developing the Mentawai Islands Regency tourism industry supporters. This research is descriptive. The research data includes data on the number of objects of tourism, the number of hotels and restaurants, the types of businesses that support community tourism, infrastructure conditions and the data supporting GDP from the tourism sector as well as supporting tourism industry. This study used a descriptive approach of quantitative and qualitative analysis. Quantitative descriptive approach by comparing the GDP data of Mentawai Islands Regency originating from industry support tourism GDP data from other industries. Compare mean analysis of GDP data derived from supporting the tourism industry and other industries is done with compare mean analysis. Industry sectors supporting tourism in the Mentawai Islands Regency is one of the potential sectors for the regional economy. However, growth in the industrial sector is less developed tourism support rapidly. Some of the constraints faced by local governments in the Mentawai Islands Regency of whom develop the tourism industry is still poor transportation infrastructure, access to the Mentawai are limited and the lack of engagement with the private sector. The role of local government in developing the Mentawai Islands support tourism industry is still less than optimal. Keywords: tourism, tourism industrial
