- This research aims to analyze land and building asset management in Department of Education, Youth and Sports, Province of Papua by 2012 The primary data were obtained using purposive sampling technique with sample in amount of 40 respondents in Department of Education, Youth and Sports, Province of Papua. Five variables were used in this research includes: assets inventory, legal auditing, asset assessment, asset utilization, as well as monitoring and controlling, which was then measured perceptions upon these variables using Likert Scale questionnaire. The method used was descriptive analysis. The results indicated that land and building asset management in Department of Education, Youth and Sports, Province of Papua, has just been implemented partially or included in medium category. Land and building asset inventory were not all complete. The land and buildings legality from 17 plot with total area 511 360M2 which already has land certificate were 76.765M2 (15 percent). Land and building assets assessment was taken using market/fair value based on acquisition price by 2007. Realization of land and building assets utilization has decreased from 2009-2010 at Rp19.779.980,-, in 2010-2011 at Rp114.360.991 and in 2011-2012 at Rp85.454.846,-. Monitoring and controlling were not optimal due to the lack of human resources who manage the asset and registering the land and building asset.
