- South Aman Trough is one of Chevron Pacific Indonesia proven oil trough in Central Sumatra Basin. Generally, oil and gas beneath of South Aman Trough had been extracted from Sihapas Group�s reservoirs. Nowadays, the oil production of Chevron Pacific Indonesia in Central Sumatra Basin is decreasing. And they are trying to increase the production with finding new reservoirs from the deeper formations of Central Sumatra Basin. Upper Red Bed Formation is one of the deeper formations in Central Sumatra Basin. Data that used in the study are seismic (3D), well logs, and cores. This data will be used to analyze the basin evolution and stratigraphic history of Upper Red Bed Formation in South Aman Trough with sequence stratigraphy concept. after that we can build the depositional environment model of Upper Red Bed Formation of South Aman Trough. And we can find potency of stratigraphic trap in Upper Red Bed Formation. The result of the study showed that Upper Red Bed Formation in South Aman Trough could be divided into five sequences. The first sequence consist of deltaic-lacustrine facies, distributary channel facies, and lacustrine facies. The second sequence consist of deltaic lacustrine facies and amalgamated fluvial point bar facies. The third sequence consist of amalgamated distributary channel facies, amalgamated fluvial point bar facies and lacustrine facies. The fourth sequence consist of amalgamated fluvial point bar facies and amalgamated braided channel facies. And the fifth sequence consist of amalgamated braided channel facies
