  • Background: Improvement of aviation safety is a top priority to reach a target of government programs road map to zero accident. In the regulations, the Minister of transportation of Indonesia KM number: 20 year 2009 declared the provider should implemented a safety management system that can be received by the directorate general of air transportation at the International Airport operator as of 1 January 2010. Yogyakarta's Adisutjipto international airport is the airport with the I B class of categories i.e. Airport secondary scale collectors. Methods: This type of research is qualitative research design case study. The subject of research in the study consists of eleven persons. Research instrument using in-depth interview guide. Primary data collection is done by direct observation. Result: PT. Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Adisutjipto International Airport have implemented components of the safety management system. The management and all employees are committed to implement the components of the safety management system in the area of operations of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Adisutjipto international airport, however the management commitment to setting up firefighting and rescue personnel have not been in accordance with the airport category for firefighting and rescue the seventh categories. Conclusion: PT. Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Adisutjipto International Airport have implemented components of the safety management system,however the management commitment to setting up firefighting and rescue personnel have not been implemented fully.
