- This research aims to analyze how Indonesian diplomacy towards the European Union in VPA-FLEGT with the involvement of many parties. The involvement of many parties in diplomacy called multitrack diplomacy, which appears as an innovation of the concept of diplomacy that has exist before. Multitrack diplomacy explains that diplomacy not only can be done by an official or government actors but also can be done by the private or public actors. Diplomacy is an attempt to reach the national interest by peaceful means and to involve various stakeholders in these efforts. This research conclude that in the effort to convince European Union in VPA-FLEGT, Indonesia involve various parties in diplomatic activities. The parties involved in the diplomatic activities among government, logging companies and associations, NGOs and representatives of civil society. The involvement of various parties indicate that Indonesia has developed a good governanace forestry which is also the goal of the VPAFLEGT. The involvement of these parties then have a significant influence on Indonesian diplomacy. This research is expected to explain and give an overview of the role of the private sector and civil society in diplomacy and international relations of a country.
