  • This research based on the fact that the course of study or specialization in the S-2 of library and information science in Indonesia are being covered under various faculties, which may lead to create more diverse subjects or research topic in the field of library and information science. In order to minimize the possibility of redundancy in both studies and research field, or to avoid duplication in regards with finding out a targeted direction in the science development, it is necessary to do knowledge mapping. The knowledge mapping is part of the bibliometrics, so this study would like to examine the mapping research of library and information science in Indonesia: bibliometrics analysis the studentâ��s theses of library and information science at 4 universities in Indonesia from 2006 to 2013. The purposes of this study are (1) to analyze the subject field of library and information science in Indonesia, (2) to make a research mapping in the library and information science in Indonesia, (3) to determine the relations among the subject fields of library and information science in Indonesia, and (4) to know the spreading of research in the field of library and information science in Indonesia based on student's theses in the Library and Information science at UGM, UI, UNPAD, and IPB year from 2006 to 2013. The method used in this thesis is bibliometrics approach by using the mapping co-words mechanism. The population is the student's theses of in library and information sciences from UGM, UI, UNPAD, and IPB from 2006-2013 with the sample collection technique is the total sampling, so that the sample amounted to 290 thesis titles. The data were processed using several stages of analysis, which are: (1) analysis of the subject by determining the keywords of each thesis and then standardized with Dictionary for Library and Information Science, (2) cowords analysis with one another based on the thesis to the thesis keywords that are shared by both the thesis that paired according to the time-blocks that have been made in each college, and (3) analysis of MDA which includes cluster analysis and MDS. Results of this study, are: (1) the subject of each college varied, UGM produces 135 types of keywords, UI produces 185 types of keywords, UNPAD produces 173 types of keywords, and IPB produces 83 types of keywords
