- Background: The problem of road traffic safety is now a global problem that received international attention. Deaths due to traffic accidents in Indonesia was ranked 54th in the world. In connection with the problem, traffic accidents in the province of Yogyakarta has tripled in the last six years and 70% of victims of traffic accidents are motorcyclists. Aim: This study aims to determine the relationship between the location of a fatal injury on the victim's body died of traffic accident cases by comparing the position of the driver or the passenger. Methods: This study is an observational analytic study using cross-sectional design. Samples were taken from visum et repertum in Installation of Forensic Medicine Hospital Dr. Sardjito Year 2012-2013. Results: Of the 85 victims, 73 (85.9%) of victims as the driver and the remaining 12 (14.1%) of victims as pillion. There were 77 (90.6%) of victims suffered fatal injuries to the upper part, while the remaining 8 (9.4%) the victim suffered a fatal injury in the lower part. From the statistical results showed that the position of the victim is not significantly reduce the risk of injury on the body (OR = 0.857
