EFEK JUS BATANG BROTOWALI (Tinaspora crispa L. Miers) TERHADAP GAMBARAN HISTOPATOLOGIK HATI DAN GINJAL TIKUS WISTAR YANG DIINDUKSI ALOKSAN

- The aim of this research is to know the effect of Brotowali stem juice to the livers and kidneys of 25 2-months-aged female rats from the histopathological point of view. Those rats have been induced to have diabetes mellitus by using Alloxan injections. Those 25 experimental Wistar-strain rats have been devided into 5 groups. Those rats which are in Group I, II, III and IV have been administrated with Alloxan tetrahydrate by three times injections, in which the dosage is 150 mg/kg each, while those in Group V as the negative control. Those in Group I have been treated with 18 mg/200 g BW/day/PO Brotowali stem juice while those in Group II and III with 9 mg/200 g BW/day/PO each. Those in Group IV have been stated as the positive control so they have been given 1 mL of aquadest, while those in Group V instead of been given Alloxan injection, they got 9 mg/200 g BW/day/PO each. The body weight measurement have been done on Day-0, Day- 6, Day-12, Day-18, Day-25, Day-28. At the end of this study (on Day-29), all of the rats used during this experiment have been killed, and the kidneys and livers have been taken for histopatological examination. The body weight data has been statistically studied by using ANOVA One Way (Analysis of Variance) at the 5% significant and Least Significantly Difference (LSD) and those livers� and kidneys� histopathologic data can be decribed descriptively. The result of observation on the body weight shows that there is no significant difference between those rats in Group I, II, III, IV, and V on Day-0, Day-6, Day-7, and Day-8 and Day-16 (p>0.05). But the body weight on Day-18 show significant (p<0.05). The histopathological picture of rats livers and kidneys in positive control (Group IV) shows the amount of those cells which undergo degeneration and necrosis is more in number. In negative control group (Group V) and in those experimental group (Group I, II, III) shows the degeneration and necrosis with lower quality as compare to the positive control group (Group IV) The conclusion of the study that Brotowali stem juice dose 9 mg/200 g BB and 18 mg/200 g BB post Alloxan indution may result degeneration and necrosis in rat lower quality as group of rat without Alloxan induction
