  • Yellow rasbora (Rasbora lateristriata) is one of fish that was often found in Indonesian rivers. Recently, the demand of this fish is very high. However its cultivation is not yet established. Yellow rasbora are potential to be cultivated because of its high economic values. The cultivation of this fish is not develop yet because of limited information of its biological aspect that related with biological information such as the kidney. The aims of this research were to study biological aspect of yellow rasbora, especially histological structure and histomorphometry on kidney of pre adult and adult yellow rasbora. In this research were used two stages with five samples for each stage. Histological preparation by paraffin method, fixative with NBF, slisced 3 Î1⁄4m, and stained by Hematoxylin-Eosin. Quantitative data were analyzed by Student T-Test and qualitative data was analyzed descriptively. The result showed that the posterior side of kidney on pre adult fish was more primitive than that of adult fish because there was glomerular cluster on pre adult fish. Siza of kidney on pre adult fish was wider, compare to that of adult fish. It could be concluded that, there were differences on histological structure and histomorphometry of kidney on pre adult and adult yellow rasbora
