- In a study entitled �Optimizaion Of a Mosque Function As Public Sphere� (Study on Role of Management and Transformation of the Public Sphere in Jogokariyan ), a review of research studies focusing on the role of manager Jogokariyan Mosque and the transformation of public sphere in the mosque. Formulation of research are: (1) What are the activities in which Jogokariyan Mosque reflect the use of public sphere? (2) How does the role of manager of the mosque in shaping the culture that made Jogokariyan Mosque as public sphere? (3) How does the transformation of public space in the Jogokariyan Mosque ?. The research method used in this study is qualitative with descriptive research. Location of the research conducted in the Jl Jogokariyan Jogokariyan 36 RT 040/11, Mantrijeron, Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The results of this study it can be concluded that: (1) In the Jogokariyan Mosque there variety of activities that reflect that mosque as public sphere is open to the public and there are various activities that embody social values??, politics, education, economics, and others. (2) The role of manager of the mosque became an important point in the development process Jogokaryian Mosque, where the existence of the principle of brotherhood among Muslim Ummah is emphasized, so has implications on the management policies and the application of Activities at the mosque Jogokariyan. (3) The transformation of public sphere occurs when there a change of management which then led by Ustadz Jazir who has a strong principle in promoting brotherhood and togetherness Muslim Ummah, so the more fiery spirit managers in carrying out these principles.
