  • Agroindustrial by-products such as apple peel, breadfruit peel, mango peel, rambutan peel, and soursop peel are often underutilized and pollute the environment. In fact, the materials contain cellulose and potentially as glucose source for ethanol fermentation. The aim of this study was to determine the degradability level of apple peel, breadfruit peel, mango peel, rambutan peel, and soursop peel using cellulase enzyme. Cellulose content was analyzed using Chesson method. Enzymatic hydrolysis was carried out using cellulase enzyme (Celluclast, 1.5 L) 90 FPU/g cellulose at 50° C for 72 hours with 2% (w/v) substrate. Glucose formed was analyzed using DNS method every 12 hours. The result showed that the hydrolysis of cellulose did not finish until 72 hours. The degradability level of apple peel, breadfruit peel, mango peel, rambutan peel, and soursop peel until 72 hours was 63,75%
