  • PT Kelola Mina Laut is an integrated seafood industry company. The company is running the business by exporting their products, which one is frozen shrimp, that sold to many countries, such as USA, Japan, and several European countries. The buyers network in many countries require that the company have to maintain its product quality in order to enter and compete with competitors. In production activity, the company always strives to produce a good product and reduce the number of product defects that occur. It is require a good quality control system in each area of work processes in order to avoid the things that disserve the company. However, the reality shows that the defects that occur in some areas of the production process is still quite high. This study aims to measure the companyâs performance of quality control system thatchas been carried out. Quality control analysis is done by using statistical tools such as check sheet, p chart, c charts, and cause and effect diagram (fishbone diagram). After get the check sheet and control chart, then do the cause analysis of defect with a fishbone diagram. Furthermore, use the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to determine the priority of defect prevention as well as recommendations that can be taken to mitigate them. There will also be tested to determine whether there is influence between the number of working hours resulting defect, using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the Kruskal-Wallis test. The tatistical quality control analysis result showed that the defect in the peeling area for K Block and KEM still not in control. Then from the results of Anova and Kruskal-Wallis test showed that there was no significant effect on the amount of work between the hours of defects that occur. From the defect cause analysis found several factors such as the labor factor, working environments, methods, materials, and tools used. Further analysis of the results obtained FMEA defect prevention as well as the priority order of recommendations that can be done to overcome it.
