- The road is one of critical infrastructure in forest management, particularly forest harvest, so there are need a good clearing of forest areas with optimal formation of the roads network. The purpose of this research to know about the characteristics of forest roads by calculated the percent clearing of forest areas (E%). This research was done at plots 11A,11D, 18A, 18B, 18C, 18D, 19A, 19B, 19C, and 19 D, block VB IUPHHK-HT PT. Inhutani II Unit Laut Island, South Kalimantan. The characteristics of forest roads has been some parameters, there are road density (RD), road spacing (RS), mean skidding distance (MSD), and percent clearing of forest areas (E%). The method of calculating percent clearing of forest areas (E%) is used mathematics method with Backmund formula (1966) that used the road correction factor. The result of road network at IUPHHK-HT PT. Inhutani II Unit Laut Island, South Kalimantan was found the characteristics of forest road , there are road road density (RD) equals 54,8 m/Ha
