  • The removal of acid gas components from gas mixtures containing CO2 and H2S is very important in natural gas processing. Amine absorber is a part of acid gas removal system. Amine absorber is a tower where natural gas will be reacted with amine solution. This reaction makes the natural gas contaminants, like H2S and CO2, be removed and leave the natural gas that free from acid gas which called sweet gas. Process equipments in amine absorber consist ofgas filter, amine absorber, sweet gas cooler, and knock out drum. The aim of this research is to design an amine absorber automation system in natural gas processing industry. The first step of designing amine absorber automation system is started by analyzing the Process Flow Diagram (PFD), then designing the Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), specifying sensors and actuators, designing The Functional Diagram, designing Loop-sheet diagrams, designing The System Architecture, designing the display of Human Machine Interface ( HMI ), and finally conducting a loop test function. The results of this research are P&ID document which based on standard document from ISA ISA-5.1-2009, a specification of sensors & actuators which based on standard document form ISA S20, a Functional Diagram which based on standard document from ISA S5.1, a Loop-sheet Diagram, a System Architecture, HMI, and simulation programs (loop test function).
