  • The aim of this research was to determine the the ability of root nodule formation by the legum root nodule-forming bacteria (LNB) formulated with A. niger in the form of biofilms on siratro (Macroptilium atropurpureum DC.). There are five combinations of fungi with LNB that are formulated into Fungal-Bacterial Biofilms (FBB). The combination includes A. niger 1.2 with LNB 437, A. niger OGB 22 with LNB 437, A. carbonarius with B. japonicum USDA 122, A. carbonarius with LNB 437, and A. niger 2.2 with LNB 613. Those five FBB formulation was tested its nodulation ability on siratro using mini rhizotron method. Observations were conducted on the nodule effectiveness and nodule quality. The effectiveness of nodule is represented by the nodule colour. The quality of nodule is represented by the number of nodules, nodule fresh weight, and nodules dry weight. The observation of the nodule color showed that all of the FBB consist of LNB that are able to form effective root nodules because all nodules contain a red pigment leghemoglobin. The observations of nodule quality indicate that FBB formulation of dari A. niger 1.2 with LNB 437, A. niger OGB 22 with LNB 437, A. carbonarius with B. japonicum USDA 122, and A. niger 2.2 with LNB 613 increase the nodulation ability of related LNB. In addition, each of the five formulations of FBB consist LNB which has an equivalent capability of doing noduation om siratro root because there was no significant difference in root nodules quality of siratro when FBBs treatment was compared.
