- Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease in infected periodontium tissues caused by bacteria resulting the tissue inflammation and gradually will be damaged due to the inflammatory process. Bone destruction in periodontitis is a crucial sign of periodontitis and a cause of tooth recession. Simvastatin is a statin drug used for hypercholesterolemia. Statin, in addition to control the cholesterol, simvastatin demonstrates the benefit as a drug which has an effect of anti-inflammatory, immunomodulator, anti-oxidant, anti-thrombotic, endothelium stabilator, angiogenesis trigger, and differentiation of osteoblast. Simvastatin is produced as gel with the concentration of 2,5%. The 24 subjects of Sprague dawley are divided into 2 groups
