- Niza>r Qabba>ni> is a modern Arabian poet known as �The King of Arabian Poet�. This research discusses one of his poems entitled �Risa>latu Jundiyyin fi> Jabhati as-Suwais� in antology al-A�ma>l al-Ka>milah. The purpose is to understand the meaning of the poem. The theory used in this research is semiotic theory. Poem �Risa>latu Jundiyyin fi> Jabhati as-Suwais� was analyzed using two out of four semiotic methods proposed by Riffaterre. Those two theories are perceiving meaning from indirect expression and semiotic reading. The result shows that poem �Risa>latu Jundiyyin fi> Jabhati as-Suwais� contains a portrayal of Suez Crisis on 29 October 1956 which involved four contries, namely England, French, Israel, and was won by Egypt as all the resources and source of power were used.
