- Introduction: Prostitution is a major problem in the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Female sex workers (FSWs) is an important target in the control of STIs. In Kediri District, there are eight ex localization, and FSW conduct STIs check regularly. The incidence of STIs in the last three years does not decline, in year of 2011 amount to 69.44%, in year of 2012 amount to 62.78% and in year of 2013 amount to 64.62%. Objective: To find out factors related to the incidence of recurrent STIs in direct FSWs in Kediri District East Java Province. Method: Observational analytic with design of case-control. Technique of sampling used purposive sampling. Sample amount to 139 cases and 139 controls. Sexually transmitted infections diagnosis obtained from the registration form of STI services, examination period July to December 2013. Interviews were conducted with questionnaires in ex-localization. The statistical test used bivariable (chi-square) and multivariable (logistic regression). Results: Respondents average age of 38 years, the level of most of primary school education (66,2%), with an average working period of 4 years. Multivariable analysis, a statistically significant variable are the condom use p=0.00, OR = 4.3 (95% CI: 2.36-10.14), the number of customers p=0.001, OR=3.5 (95% CI: 1.52- 4.49) and age p = 0.008, OR = 2.7 (95% CI: 1.20-3.41). Conclusion: Condom use, number of customers, and age are factors related to incidence of recurrent STIs at direct FSWs in Kediri District. Health Departement Officer and NGO is expected, in order to improve the consistency of condom use with the structural interventions in a comprehensive and sustainable by involving local policy makers (sex workers, pimps, owners of homestead, workers group) outreach / peer educators, STIs clinic and also customers of sex workers.
