- Background: Hand dermatitis represents one of the most common occupational skin diseases affecting nurse. Hand dermatitis influenced by endogenous and exogenous risk factor. Data on the prevalence and risk factors of hand dermatitis on nurse in Indonesia are lacking. Objective: To determine the prevalence and risk factors of hand dermatitis in nurses at Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Method: Descriptive analysis with cross-sectional study Result: There are 817 respondent of the study with 20,9% male and 79,1% female. The prevalence of hand dermatitis is 31,6% with significantly associated risk factor such as atopic dermatitis, nursing less than 5 years, household wet work, hand lotion usage and concomitant use of antiseptic soap and alcohol hand rub. There are no significant association betwen hand dermatitis and hospital wet work, and between severity of hand dermatitis and the risk factor. There are no severe hand dermatitis found in this study. Conclusion: The prevalence of hand dermatitis at Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta is 31,6% with mild-moderate severity.
