  • Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a clinical manifestation of coronary heart disease that be caused by an imbalance between oxygen supply and oxygen demand in the myocardium. The use of anticoagulant therapy in ACS can reduce cardiovascular events, but it is also associated with the risk of bleeding. The objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness and safety of fondaparinux and enoxaparin in ACS without ST segment elevation. This study is a retrospective cohort study with browsing medical records of patients with non ST segment elevation ACS at Panti Rapih Hospital Yogyakarta during January 2012 until December 2013. The number of patients who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria as many as 120 patients were divided into 2 groups of 60 patients each. The effectiveness end points are the number of patients without myocardial infarction and recurrent ischemic during hospitalization. The safety end points are the number of patients without major and minor bleeding during hospitalization. The number of patients without myocardial infarction in the fondaparinux group was 57 patients (95%) and in the enoxaparin group was 53 patients (88,3%) (p=0,186
