  • One dimensional shallow water equations consist of two equations which are derived from the mass conservation law and the momentum conservation law. This final project discuss a derivation of the governing equation of broken dam problem from these two laws. The governing equation is in the form of a nonlinear partial differential equation system of order one. This governing equation is being applied for one dimensional dam break problem so that create a Riemann Problem. This Riemann Problem may be solved analytically using the characteristic method.
