Daftar Isi:
- Punk subculture, usually synonymous with negative stereotypes, has recently been broadcasted by Metro TV in a program titled \"Zero To Hero\" with an episode titled \"Heart of Light\". This study is then aimed to analyze both the role of media in constructing the identity of Punk transforming into Moslem Punk and the construction of the \"hero\" identity in that subculture group by using multimodal analysis method of Kress and Van Leeuwens semiotics. The results then showed how the discourse of the identity construction of Punk before transforming into Moslem is so bias, full of exploitation of proletariat, and discrediting the image of Punk. It even seems more to perpetuate their marginalization and exclusion. As a result, the Punk community was visually plunged further into \"zero\" categorization or society without values. Secondly, this show makes dichotomy of good versus bad between the Punk community and the Moslem Punk community ideologically and politically. In one side, the Punk community depicted only has minimal modality, while the Moslem Punk community has successfully changed and improved their modalities. However, both actually got symbolic violence because the Punk community was plunged into negative stereotypes, while the Moslem Punk community was considered only as a stepping stone before becoming a normal society in general. Thirdly, there are two figures of \"hero\" constructed in this show, \"hero\" referring to the Moslem Punk and \"superhero\" referring to Ahmad Zaki as the 'builder' of the Moslem Punk community that affirms his power dominance over the Moslem Punk community. Fourthly, the construction of identity shown involves creating, shaping, and deconstructing the characters of \"hero\" and \"superhero\" tailored to the needs of a new society, i.e. the hero is supposed to have religious character, intelligence, family love, hard work ethic, social minded orientation, expertise in various fields, as well as existence in society. In the end, the content of heroism in this program only exposes character business exploited and used as a platform of commercialization. Keywords: Identity Construction, Punk, Moslem Punk, Hero
