- Motorcycle is the main transportation in Indonesia, hence almost every single family has it more than one. This is a good business opportunity in providing motorcycle spare part including cast wheel. A lot of local made cast wheel is produced, but there are a lot of complaints due to low quality of casting which perhaps is caused by the casting process. Local made cast wheel generally is manufactured by gravity casting process method. This research is aimed to improve the casting quality of the cast wheel to meet the customer requirements. The improved quality in this research was done by using a vertical centrifugal casting method The procedures of this research firstly was to chop the unused cast wheel as casting raw materials into small pieces, then 4964 grams was taken to put into the furnace as raw material to be melted. While the raw material melting process, the mold was heated up to 2500C. After the raw material melted at 7000C approximately, then the slag was taken out and 36 grams Al-TiB was put into the melted raw material and stirred. The melted raw material then was poured into the spinning hot mold, then taken out the product after completely solidify. This process was repeated several time at variation speed of rotation. All the casting product was tested by tensile test, hardness test, impact test and micro structure as per standard requirement. The best test result was then re-casted and do the T6 heat treatment process before to be re-tested. The casting results which are spinning or rotation variations of 50-900 rpm showed the best mechanical properties. It has tensile strength of 22.67 Kg/mm2 and toughness average was at 0.029 j/mm2.
